EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATIONS OF THE STABLE FORM OF THE VORTEX STRUCTURE OF A SWIRLING FLOW



Experimental investigations on detection of the physical mechanisms and factors, responsible for the structurally similar forms of spiral-vortex motion of fl uid media, have been performed. A confi rmation of the theoretical dependence, defi ning the relation between the geometric sizes of three-dimensional spiral-vortex formations and the frequencies of vortex motion in them, has been obtained. By the example of an impact swirling fl ow, it is shown that a determinate large-scale vortex structure of a fl uid medium is formed as a result of the crisis of the thermodynamic stability of the medium, corresponding to the phenomenon of crisis of a swirling fl ow
